vineyard conditions

Every vineyard and terroir has a specific reflection to it. Our nursery takes pride in producing the most wide range of different rootstock-variety in order to respond on the best way possible to the demands of every region, and to specific demands of our customers. Each plant takes 18 months before they can be planted on a vineyard, an important anticipation work is done in order to do this.

Our vineyard technicians present in your region are at your disposal to respond to your needs and to give you technical advice.

Our Plant production process

Rootstock preparation and quality control

After the pruning period of our certified rootstock fields, every vine is cutted to the appropriate dimension and cleaned to eliminate buds in order to avoid shoots on the rootstock in the future. The rootstock can then be used to graft the desired grape variety on top.

Bud preparation and quality control

The shoots of our certified vineyards are cutted by bud to become future grafts. We only keep the buds that have an optimal diameter to be adapted to the rootstock diameter.

The grafting

The process of grafting the bud in the top of the rootstock will create a plant. Thanks to the Omega and English grafting technics.

Waxing after graft

In order to protect the graft junction and to ease the cicatrisation process, we put on a protective was over the graft.

Stratification process

This process is the cicatrisation process of the graft and the growth of the first roots. This process is done in hot and steamy room, with specific conditions depending of the rootstock-variety profile.

Preparation for the nursery planting and nursery planting

The grafted plants are taken out of the stratification boxes and to adapt the plants to the exterior climatic conditions. The plants are selected one time and then waxed a second time, in order protect them of the wind and heat conditions. The planting can start in the nursery fields, where the plants will be supervised by our field managers.

Nursery planting

The acclimatised plants are planted in a nursery where they can grow and develop under the supervision of our crop managers.

Field supervision and growth control

A specific control is being done in the fields in order to stimulate root and shoot growth, and the sanitary conditions on the field. This is a key moment, where a visual and a supplementary laboratory testing is done and guarantee vine health.

Pulling out of the nursery

In autumn, once the vegetative cycle of the plants is finished, the nurseries are pulled out thanks to a specific machine. The plants will be taken to cold storage to start the vine selection process.

Final plant selection and packing process

During the plant selection, the following points are being controlled: root quality, mechanical resistance in the graft junction, visual aspect of rootstock and the quality of the main shoot. The first pruning process of the vine is done at this moment, the plants will then be waxed one last time. After this process each batch will be packed in boxes or plastic bags, and then kept in cold storage until delivery to our customers.
